a passage to retell
- A young man was under a lot of pressure and could never sleep at night. He went to see a doctor; the old doctor gave him no medicine, just wrote him a note. The note said: every evening, take the neighbour’s dog for a walk, and keep it up for a month. A month later he was sleeping soundly every night, and he had made a new friend. Which shows that rest doesn’t have to mean lying still.
- On the first of January, a man made up his mind to get fit. He paid for a whole year at a gym in one go. In February he went once, found it too tiring and never went back. In December he finally walked into the gym for the second time. He said to the staff: “I’ve come to ask how to cancel my membership.”
a passage to read aloud
