a passage to retell
- At New Year an uncle handed out red envelopes to the children, each with a name written on it. One boy opened his and found that the slip of paper inside had his older brother’s name on it. His brother opened his, and inside was the name of the family’s little dog. Everyone laughed and rushed to look at the red envelope hanging round the dog’s neck. When they opened it, the dog’s envelope had the most money of all. The uncle laughed: “He keeps everyone company every day. He deserves a bit more!”
a passage to read aloud
