questions & answers
Is it free?
Yes. Every lesson, the audio, the PDFs and both practice exams are free, with no sign-up and no ads.
How long does it take?
36 days of about 25 minutes: 29 learning days, 5 mission days with a story that reviews what you learned, and 2 practice exams. Pick a lighter or faster pace whenever you like.
Does it match the HSK 3 exam?
It follows the new HSK 3 of the 2025 syllabus (HSK 3.0): all 500 words that are new at level 3, every level 3 grammar point, and practice exams in the new level 3 layout. It is our own course, not official HSK material, and the new exam’s pass marks are not published yet.
Do I need HSK 1 and HSK 2 first?
Yes. It builds on our HSK 1 and HSK 2 courses: their words are known from day 1 and come back in every lesson. If they are new to you, start with HSK 1.
What will I read and write?
Simplified characters with Hanyu Pinyin. Word cards show each word’s own tones; sentences show the spoken tone changes of 一 and 不. You practise writing the 150 characters of the official level 3 handwriting list.
