questions & answers

Is it free?

Yes. Every lesson, the audio, the PDFs and both practice exams are free, with no sign-up and no ads.

How long does it take?

22 days of about 20 minutes: 17 learning days, 3 mission days that bring the words back in one story (day 10 reviews days 1–9, day 15 days 11–14, day 20 days 16–19), and 2 practice exams. Pick a lighter or faster pace whenever you like.

Does it match the HSK 2 exam?

It follows the new HSK 2 of the 2025 syllabus (HSK 3.0): all 200 words of level 2 (197 here; 后面, 前面 and 饭馆 are already in our HSK 1), every level 2 grammar point (one height comparison, 他有一米八, waits for 米 in a later level), and practice exams in the new level 2 layout. It is our own course, not official HSK material, and the new exam’s pass marks are not published yet.

Do I need HSK 1 first?

Yes. It builds on our HSK 1 course: its 306 words are known from day 1 and come back in every lesson. If they are new to you, start with HSK 1.

What will I read and write?

Simplified characters with Hanyu Pinyin. Word cards show each word’s own tones; sentences show the spoken tone changes of 一 and 不. You practise writing the characters of the official level 1–2 handwriting list that HSK 1 did not cover.
