questions & answers

Is this really free?

Yes. Every lesson, story, exam and PDF is free, with no sign-up and no ads.

Which HSK is this?

The new HSK levels 7–9 from the 2025 syllabus (HSK 3.0, published November 2025): all 5,600 new words of the advanced band and its 134 grammar points. Levels 7, 8 and 9 are one exam: you sit a single advanced paper, and your score decides whether you are placed at level 7, 8 or 9. It is not official HSK material.

Do I need HSK 6 first?

Yes. The course builds on HSK 1 to 6, about 5,400 words, and every text uses them freely. If HSK 6 still feels hard, do our HSK 6 course first.

How long does it take?

About 45 minutes a day for 193 days: 166 learning days of up to 35 words, 25 story missions that review each unit, and 2 practice exams. Every day is split into short bites, so you can stop between any two.

Do the practice exams match the real HSK 7–9?

They copy the layout of the official 2025 sample paper: listening, reading, writing (a chart analysis and an essay), translation and speaking. The new HSK has not published its pass marks yet, so our 60% pass mark is only a guide.

How are the words written, read and heard?

In simplified characters with Hanyu Pinyin and tone marks: each word with its dictionary tones, and sentences with the spoken tone changes of 一 and 不. The 500 characters the syllabus lists for handwriting at levels 7–9 come with stroke-order animations. About half of the words (2,582 of 5,600) have a native-speaker recording; the others are read by your device’s own voice.
